U.S. Space Force awards $46.5 million contract to Sev1Tech for Network Prototype

Sev1Tech to develop meshONE-Terrestrial, the ground component of the larger meshONE battle network concept aimed at linking military operations across multiple warfighting domains

WOODBRIDGE, Va. Sept. 28, 2021 – Sev1Tech, a leading provider of dynamic mission-support services and solutions, today announced a contract award to provide the U.S. Space Force with Data Transport as a Service (DTaaS) support. This DTaaS effort will provide a modernized foundation for scalable, seamless, and robust tactical networking. The initial contract value is $47.5 million, with one base year and two potential option years.

Sev1Tech will support the Space Systems Command (SSC) in developing meshONE-Terrestrial, a scalable, resilient, cybersecure prototype data transport network underpinning U.S. Space Force (USSF) missions and U.S. Air Force ground systems.

The network is the ground element of the larger meshONE concept, which aims to link air, land, and sea operations through high-bandwidth communications and edge connectivity. Eventually, meshONE-T will integrate with the broader meshONE air and space components to provide a unified network solution across all environments. The prototype will bolster Space Force joint operations through high-speed access to cloud-based services and reliable information-sharing, connecting troops and commanders across platforms and domains.

Additionally, meshONE-T will implement associated cybersecurity and support functions at a new Enterprise Service Desk/Network Operations Center and establish DTaaS capabilities for 11 USSF Mission Partners.

“The solution that the U.S. Space Force has tasked Sev1Tech with delivering will transform how warfighters receive and share mission-critical data, empower joint operations across devices, platforms, services, and domains through all phases of conflict,” said Bob Lohfeld, CEO at Sev1Tech. “This is the kind of solution that will help realize the broader goals of the Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) initiative under development at the Defense Department.”

Armed with a broad portfolio of expertise and experience, Sev1Tech brings the USSF a team of specialists, engineers, and seasoned veterans to design and deploy smart, effective solutions based on comprehensive technical assessments, research, and analysis, ensuring mission-driven capabilities that deliver the competitive advantage.

meshONE-T was acquired by SSC as an Other Transaction Authority contract through the Space Enterprise Consortium (SpEC) which is managed by NSTXL. “SpEC is revolutionizing modern-day space missions,” said NSTXL COO, Erik Olbeter. “As the manager of the consortium, NSTXL is primed to continue supporting these high-impact projects and increasing speed to award. Our platform brings the advanced functionality needed to boost opportunities like meshONE-T and ensure new technologies are being prototyped and delivered quicker than our adversaries.”
